BLIND DANCE
I just saw god
I the girl who was working at the coffee shop
Then I heard a song
And I realized I'm not seeing you for who you are
Don't know if I ever will
Cause you give me a thrill more than prescription pills
And when you call it tastes better than alcohol
Now all I wanna know if where the blind people go so they can see
I got broken eyes
So I go to the doctor with the laserlight
Then he says I'm fixes
And now I see the things that everybody did
Don't know if I ever will
Cause you give me a thrill more than prescription pills
And when you call it tastes better than alcohol
Now all I wanna know if where the blind people go so they can dance
Don't know if I ever will
Cause you give me a thrill more than prescription pills
And when you call it tastes better than alcohol
Now all I wanna know if where the blind people go so they can dance
They can dance...

The Blue Aeroplane

THE BLUE AEROPLANE
Take me to Canada take me to Spain
Fly me somewhere on the Blue Aeroplane
Cause I melt in the shower and fall down the drain
But I reappear in the Blue Aeroplane
Half of the free world is going insane
Buying their tickets for runaway trains
But I am no different I am the same
I fly away on the Blue Aeroplane
Take me to Canada take me to Spain
Fly me somewhere on the Blue Aeroplane
Cause I melt in the shower and fall down the drain
But I reappear in the Blue Aeroplane
It's a thousand miles down when you're up in the air
If you don't wear your seatbelt nobody cares
And no one remembers from where they came
When they arrive on the Blue Aeroplane
Take me to Canada take me to Spain
Fly me somewhere on the Blue Aeroplane
Cause I melt in the shower and fall down the drain
But I reappear in the Blue Aeroplane
Twenty eight years and one foot in the grave
When I go to church there's no soul to save
No one remembers the place that they came
When they arrive on the Blue Aeroplane
Take me to Canada take me to Spain
Fly me somewhere on the Blue Aeroplane
Cause I melt in the shower and fall down the drain
But I reappear in the Blue Aeroplane

Favorite Game

FAVORITE GAME
This is our favorite game
Waiting with you for the train
Pretending we won't meet again
Pretending we don't feel anything
Watching you jump off a fence
Watching you light cigarettes
Your smiles all have turned into boredoms
Nothing else seems that important
Except for your favorite game
The one where you don't feel the pain
The one where you color your hair
And pretend you never were there
The night has come down to the wire
The bartender set Nancy Reagan's car on fire
He says but they call him a liar
It's the story that's good not the truth
Yes the story eclipses all truth
So this is my favorite game
Asking a stranger her name
As you disappear on the train
Pretending that you've gone away
Pretending that you've gone away
Pretending that you've gone away
Pretending that you've gone away

El Caminos

EL CAMINOS
Sometimes she thinks of me when she's touching herself
And that's only as close as she let's me now
Mitchell Hedberg doing standup playing on TV
When you wear that dress do you think of me?
The Chevy El Caminos have to drive real slow
When she takes you to an ocean where a garden grows
When you ask her how to get there she'll say I don't know
The only way to find it is to let it go
So I write down everything that's been wrong with me
I'm addicted to a drug called memories
There's one to slow me down and one to speed me up
I'm drinking Johnny Walker in a coffee cup
Drinking Johnny Walker in a coffee cup
Drinking Johnny Walker in a coffee cup
Drinking Johnny Walker in a coffee cup
Drinking Johnny Walker in a coffee cup
When you pass a motel do your legs get weak
I'm writing you a letter cause I'm still angry
And when I come up empty would you let me be
But when you wear that dress would you think of me
Yeah when you wear that dress would you think of me

BREAK THE HABIT
I got a pitbull's jaw and now my teeth are closed
I been holding on and I'm not letting go
I'm a heavyweight looking for a ring
I'm a fighter who's not fighting for anything
I'm getting there but I'm not there yet
I'll meet you there I'll break the habit
I'm getting there but I'm not there yet
I'll meet you there I'll break the habit
I'm going to Chinatown to put my life in boxes
Would you call me later cause I might need a friend
I'm a little scared though I'm not one to admit that
But I woke this morning with my back up against the wall
I'm getting there but I'm not there yet
I'll meet you there I'll break the habit
I'm getting there but I'm not there yet
I'll meet you there I'll break the habit
I'll break the habit
I'll break the habit

TWO WOMEN
Don't check the text message on my phone
Cause I got another lover who she don't know
And she's gonna make some one a pretty wife one day
She's gonna make him pancakes while you talk about your day
I'm drinking on an empty stomach and it hurts
In between two women but I'm thinking of a third
Drinking on an empty stomach cause it hurts
In between two women but I'm thinking of a third

Moving Targets

MOVING TARGETS
Now I'm high above the city in my good friend's apartment
And I'm thinking this is not the end it's just something real that I can start with
And I'm playing his guitar like tree that's falling in the forest
And I open up my rib cage to see if this is really where my heart it
I've been trying to figure out what kind of loss is the hardest
Is it the husband for the wife or is it the eyes for the artist
I've been shooting broken arrows at a moving target
Yeah knowing what I know makes you so fucking hard to part with
Do you remember coming back from Michigan last march
After you and I'd been out on tour for a month
We were trying to get to Jersey for a party at 8
But that ten hour drive took us a week to make
Yeah the first place we stopped was the DIA
We got high and stared at all that beautiful paint
There was a band we knew in Cleveland but that was too far away
So we took a motel 6 in pittsburgh cause it was getting late
We ate the last of the mushrooms in a Starbucks cup of tea
And left the show early to find someplace we'd rather be
I never told you this but when we parked in that parking lot
Downtown by the river til we saw the lights of the cops
They came walking up slow with their flashlights ablaze
I put all the drugs in my jacket while you were looking the other way
And decided in an instant that I would take any blame
Cause if you got busted one more time you'd be going away
But they just said this park is closed and we had to be moving on
So we drove away real slow and we never laughed so hard
They said this park has been closed and we got to be moving on
And there was more truth to those words than we ever would have thought
Cause a month or two later man we were so far away
But the lights on the river that night will always stay
The lights on the river that night will always stay
Yeah Pittsburgh at night will always stay...

Golden Gloves

GOLDEN GLOVES
You will destroy the one thing that you love
You'll be destroyed by the thing you love
So goes the story of Mohammed Ali
And his golden glove
You will break the things you try to touch
You will care entirely too much
Like a dog who bites the hand that feeds
It will be too hard for you to see
When you deny the truth that's on your face
When you become the one thing that you hate
When you realize that it's already too late
And everything you built will one day break
I will fail and I will let you down
I'm not as strong as the drummer makes me sound
I will deceive the moment that you trust
I will care about myself too much
You will hate Joseph for his technicolor coat
You will kill Lennon for the pop songs that he wrote
You will hold a knife to your own throat
You will trade humanity for gold
You will bow down to the gods who you are told
You will buy all of the stories that they sold
You'll be the first to cast the second stone
You will believe that the pattern is too old
You will destroy the one thing that you love
You'll be destroyed by the thing you love
So goes the story of Mohammed Ali
And his golden glove
I will forgive the things that you've done wrong
I will kiss the blood off of your palms
I will return your hatred with my love
I will return the hatred with my love
The hatred for my love
The hatred for my love
The hatred for my love

HIJACK
Saw you today you said you were no longer sober
Reminded me without saying it that the time we had is over
You said you'd lost a couple pounds it wasn't hard to notice
You standing there before me you know I find it really hard to focus
You dyed your hair to red and it hung down to your shoulder
Every time you look into a mirror you say your face gets older
Sometimes I think I see a light in a tunnel or a train
And I flutter blindly toward it like a moth into a flame I guess nothing has changed
I feel like a child that's been left out for adoption
You say you wonder why you do it but then you don't have any options
It's so hard for you to want me cause I've hijacked it before
And the airplane that you're leaving on won't let me through the door
What am I hoping for?

Wine (Be Here Now)

WINE (BE HERE NOW)
'Be here now' is what she said when we woke up
With no idea what it meant as a result of our good luck
So I opened the last remaining bottle of red wine
I was trying not to open it because it looked expensive
And it really wasn't mine
I live Tim now cause he and Emma broke up
It's such a shame you say 'well' I say
'That's the same thing that they said about us'
And every year around Christmas
I mail a letter to a friend
She never writes me back
I don't know why I keep sending them
My guitar only falls down when I put it in the guitar stand
That's the only place it's not supposed to fall
When you let it leave your hands
'Be here now' is what she said when we woke up
With no idea what it meant she'd just read it in a book
So baby open up that expensive bottle of red wine
I'll pretend I'm yours and we'll go dancing down the line
I guess that living this way is the same thing as that wine
It only gets better when you let it age and give it time
